Since 1999 Harry had a vision of adding medical outreach to the ministries of Project Crossroads. Because of serving as a Paramedic with the Marion Life Saving Crew and working on homes of those in need in the community he realized that many folks had limited access to quality health care as well as continuity of care. He finally had the opportunity to go back to school and get his pre-requisites and was accepted into the Physician Assistant Program at LMU. Upon completion he became a provider with the Mel Leaman Free Clinic in Marion Virginia through a partnership between the clinic and the project.
He serves with the clinic as a volunteer provider two days a week and is part of a team of volunteer providers that provide general health care to those who qualify for the clinics services. Th Mel Leaman Free Clinic serves those without insurance who are at or below 200% federal poverty level. The clinic provide health care to residents of Smyth, Washington and Grayson Counties in Southwest Virginia.
Project Crossroads is one of the primary sponsors of RAM Smyth County. This is local three day clinic held annually at the Mountain Empire Airport providing dental, vision and medical care to any who are in need of the services.
